2011 HTML5 Dev Conf Hackathon

Eventbrite sponsored a hackathon for the HTML5 Dev Conf along with a number of other API providers looking to pick up some developers.

My goal in this event was to make up for my poor-quality code and lack of UI skills by integrating as many APIs as possible. I intended to write a heads or tails game using spaceport.io, with data storage via mongolab and a gambling function via betable. I didn't quite make it to betable.

It was a lot of fun to dust off my very rusty actionscript chops to write to spaceport's API. It's also a lot of perverse fun to write actionscript that produces very nasty text output and no animations.

Mongolabs has a great offering - 240MB of free cloud mongodb storage with a nice rest API on top of it.

Code is here if you want your eyes to bleed. You'll have to jump through a lot of hoops to run this, and it's not worth it - ask me for a demo if you want to see it in action.
