Carmina Burana, January 27, 2012 at the Paramount
Fortune rota. This was my second piece with the OSC and also my last. Almost a perfect circle.
Here's a review from the Benicia Herald.
It was a totally sold-out show, possibly due to the presence of the Oakland Youth Orchestra *and* the Oakland Youth Chorus. You know you're going to get a standing ovation when mom is in the audience.
National Corndog Day 2012
NCD 2012 is just around the corner! It falls on St. Patricks Day this year. March 17th is the most dangerous corndog day - two holidays that promote binge drinking on the same day is double-trouble, and the resulting vomit is more likely to be green.
We've got a very patriotic theme for this election year, and party pack pre-orders are on sale now at corndogday.com.
ThoughtWorks Studios
After a long incubation, the ThoughtWorks Studios redesign has launched.
This project was a from-scratch rebuild of an existing Drupal site. The primary goals of the project were a major UI update and reorganization of content types/relationships to support a more structured presentation of content, and to make it easier for content editors to make updates.
Rabies Post-bite Treatment
Rationalization
It seems like everyone in Buenos Aires who owns a dog and lives in an apartment has a dog walker to take their dogs out every day. You constantly see dog walkers in the street with 10 or 20 dogs, all on separate leashes, walking around perfectly happily. Many more dogs that would be considered safe or responsibile for dog walkers in the US.
Break Bread Concert, December 11 at the Paramount
The Oakland Symphony Chorus is performing in the Oakland East Bay Symphony's annual Let Us Break Bread Together concert on Sunday, December 11, 4PM at the Paramount in Oakland.
This concert is a fun, cheesy, ecumenical holiday concert with a bunch of different vocal groups crammed together on stage. Joan Baez is guest starring (if she doesn't fall out of her treehouse again this year...)
OSC Workshop, Haydn Harmoinemesse, November 19
The Oakland Symphony Chorus is performing a recital of Haydn's Harmoniemesse on Saturday, November 19 at the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland (on Lake Merritt) at 8PM.
It's a free concert. It's a recital for our annual workshop, so we will be larger and less-rehearsed than usual.
cck_ipaddr release 5.x-1.0
After 4 years of not even trying, I've finally made an official release of the cck_ipaddr utility module for the now EOL Drupal 5.
This was My First Drupal Module! It was fun to refactor very old code, and add a couple of features. My plan is to get it working in both D6 (which is necessary for a current project) and D7 (as a good intro to D7 fields) in the next few weeks. But maybe it'll take me another 4 years, who knows.
Gruff
I'm working on a side-project to build the perfect forum for political (and other) debates.
It's called Gruff and the goal is to build a troll-resistant (or, really, troll-ignoring) site that allows people with opinions to build a canonical list of arguments around a specific debate and come to a consensus around the reliability of each argument.
Street Scene. Friday May 13th, 2011. 8PM
The Oakland Symphony Chorus will be joining the Oakland East Bay Symphony in their concert production of Kurt Weill and Langston Hughes's opera/musical Street Scene.
Hadyn Lord Nelson Mass Workshop on archive.org
We got a decent recording of the 3/12 concert and posted it it to archive.org.
